According to a report in The Sun, Crystal Palace are set to offer in-demand winger Yannick Bolasie a new contract in order to keep him at Selhurst Park.
The talented winger’s future has been heavily speculated this summer, with widespread reports accrediting fellow Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur with a strong interest.
Nonetheless, the DR Congo ace’s contract only has two years to run and amid strong interest, fresh reports state Palace’s latest method of keeping hold of the winger is to offer him a new deal.
In the report in The Sun, the proposed new contract offer is said to be £35,000-a-week – a figure which is allegedly just over half of what newcomers Yohan Cabaye and Connor Wickham are receiving.
If true, then Bolasie may see this as a sign of weakness from Palace and slightly disrespectful considering his importance to Alan Pardew’s side and the efforts he has put in.
Palace need to play the situation out smartly, as they could find themselves backed into a corner if a potential deal with Spurs is not reached, Bolasie becomes discontent and he edges towards the final year of his current deal seeking a move away from the club.
