Manchester United transfer news: Two £100m bids for Bale; Pedro deal almost complete; Lingard set to leave and Pepe linked

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United

According to a report from the Sun, Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has twice bid £100million for Real Madrid player Gareth Bale this summer.

United have long been linked with the Welsh international but considering his dream was to play in the Spanish capital it was always a long shot that they could bring him back to England so soon after his exit.

The latest report claims Real have released the news that United tried to break the world record transfer fee which was set when Bale left Tottenham for the Bernabeu two summers ago.

In other news, the Sun also claims United are ready to sell winger Jesse Lingard to Bristol City for £2.5million.

The England under-21 international has only played one senior match for United, spending the majority of the last few years out on loan.

Considering the players currently ahead of him in the pecking order at Old Trafford, a permanent exit would be no surprise at this stage of his career.

And finally, the Mirror claims United will complete a £20million deal for Barcelona winger Pepe in the next 48 hours and could also sign Real defender Pepe.

With United in need of a new experienced centre back the Portuguese international is the latest to be linked with the club.
