Former Tottenham Hotspur attacker Darren Anderton has told The Sport Review that Arsenal will not win the Premier League title this season.
The 43-year-old believes that defensively Arsene Wenger’s side are not strong enough to maintain the challenge for the league title.
“I don’t really (think Arsenal will win the title),” Anderton told The Sport Review. “It pains me to say it but I do enjoy watching them play at times. They can play some great football and Arsene Wenger is a great manager.
"The stability of having him there must be helping them. I still think defensively they may not be strong enough to challenge Chelsea and Manchester City.”
Can Arsenal win the Premier League this season?
Anderton’s prediction will probably go down well with Tottenham fans – for obvious reasons – but there is a good chance that the Gunners could win the Premier League title this term.
Arsenal have three of the best players in England in Petr Cech, Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil, and given their strong end to last season, fans should be optimistic.
Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City will be the other three challengers for the Premier League title this season, which means that the Gunners will find it extremely tough.
Over the years, Arsene Wenger’s side have not started their Premier League campaigns well. If Arsenal make a strong start to this season, then they will certainly have a very good chance of claiming the title.
