Collymore suggests West Ham's future rests on 'exciting' summer signings

Upton Park

Former England forward Stan Collymore is excited by the players West Ham United have signed this summer.

Former England forward Stan Collymore explained in the Daily Mirror that he feels West Ham are in a good position to move forward over the coming weeks.

Collymore has implied that West Ham have the right sort of experience left behind from the Sam Allardyce era, mixed in with some exciting new players that Slaven Bilic has signed for the club, as he looks to move the side forward this season.

“There are a number of clubs who have added quality and depth to their squads – and West Ham are one of them,” he told the Daily Mirror.

“The Irons also have the experience of Kevin Nolan, Mark Noble, Winston Reid and James Collins to call upon.”

“I have to say that the new signings of Dimitri Payet, Pedro Obiang and Angelo Ogbonna are exciting. If they pay off, West Ham will be looking towards a bright future as they bid farewell to the Boleyn Ground. If they click, my prediction (10th) could be skinny.”

The big issue for West Ham

West Ham at their strongest, with the new signings included, can beat anyone because of the balance Collymore hints at above.

The big issue for Bilic is how he keeps everyone fit so he can play his strongest team on a regular basis.

The Europa League qualification games that the side have already been playing have proven to be challenging and the games will come thick and fast.

Bilic is going to need to show real skill in terms of how he utilises his squad and the club’s youth ranks so that when it comes down to the big Premier League games, the Hammers are well placed to cash in and take full advantage.
