Hector Bellerin has stated that Arsenal’s win over Chelsea in the Community Shield was a big boost for the team and has talked up the Gunners’ form in pre-season, as per the club’s official website.

The North London side have high hopes of a successful campaign in 2015-16, with belief amongst the club’s fans building after excellent preparation for the start of the Premier League this weekend.

Arsene Wenger’s men claimed the Asia Trophy in Singapore, beating Everton in the final, before record victory in the Emirates Cup with wins over Lyon and Wolfsburg.

With the 1-0 win over Jose Mourinho’s men ending Wenger’s poor personal record against his Blues also, Bellerin believes that the Emirates Stadium outfit are ready to hit the ground running once the competitive action starts.

“We knew it was going to be hard against the winners of the league,” Bellerin told the club’s official website.

“We know that a Chelsea side is always physical and they have pace up front. We knew it would be difficult but the team responded well and we’re very happy.

“For a few years there have been a lot of games and we didn’t seem to get the victory against them. It’s a weight off our shoulders for the boss, for the fans, for the club in general. We’re very happy that we’ve started the season like this.

“I think pre-season, both in Asia and at the Emirates Cup, has been really good for the team. It’s been a great experience to finish the pre-season with a win at Wembley at Chelsea. I think that will be a big boost for the team."

Arsenal showed signs of having the ability to be English champions last season, with Wenger’s men playing some scintillating football over periods of the 2014-15 campaign.

The Gunners faithful will hope that their team can be more consistent this season, with the quest for major silverware set to start again.
