Sherwood will be delighted as Veretout makes a pledge following arrival

Villa Park

Aston Villa midfielder Jordan Veretout is determined to pay back the faith of manager Tim Sherwood.

New Aston Villa midfielder Jordan Veretout told the club’s official website that he’s looking to pay back the leap of faith that manager Tim Sherwood has taken with him.

Aston Villa have become the second team that Veretout has played for during his senior career following a move from Nantes in French football and he seems determined to have a big impact under Sherwood’s guidance this season.

“It's an exciting time for the football club and I am delighted to be part of it. I am proud to be involved in this new start,” he told

“The coach has put a lot of belief in me by buying me for this huge club. I hope to deliver for him now on the pitch and repay that faith.”

Quick adjustments needed

It’s important that Veretout can settle in quickly at Aston Villa and make fast adjustments in terms of the demands of playing in the Premier League.

English football is higher paced and much more physical than what he would have been used to and he quickly needs to get up to speed to ensure that he’s not overawed by the scale of the challenge he’s just created for himself.

He can work on the pace and physical side of things with some hard work in training and by listening to the manager and the more experienced players in the team.

Those parties will give him the best idea over how he can utilise his main strengths, to get more out of his game faster for the club.

Aston Villa are staring at a situation where they are under pressure to move forward after the difficulties of last season and it’s encouraging that Veretout wants to be a part of that.
