According to the latest reports from Sky Sport Italia, the agent of Napoli star Gokhan Inler has flown to England in order to seek a deal with Leicester City.
The Foxes are in the hunt of extra midfield additions and have targeted the Switzerland international as an ideal recruit this summer, with Sky Sports Italia stating that a fee around £3 million has already been agreed.
Nonetheless, it is now being suggested that his agent has flown in to meet Claudio Ranieri and the club’s representatives in order to find an agreement, despite remaining unconvinced.
Following Esteban Cambiasso’s decision to turn down another year at Leicester and walk away from the club for free this summer, a huge void has been created and the Premier League outfit need to fill it.
The Foxes announced today the arrival of defensive midfielder Ngolo Kante from Caen, a solid acquisition but one which represents risks due to the player’s lack of top level experience.
Inler has represented his country 83 times, he has played football at the highest level including two successive Champions League campaigns – the type of experience Leicester desperately need.
Claudio Ranieri’s job this season is to establish the East Midlands outfit as a firm Premier League side and the potential acquisition of Inler could be a big step towards achieving that goal.
