Rafael da Silva has said his goodbyes to Manchester Untied fans ahead of his imminent departure from the club.
Confirming his Old Trafford career is at a close, Rafael took to Twitter to thank fans and club staff for their support.
SkySports reported earlier on Monday that the Brazilian was closing in on a move to French side Lyon.
Since I signed with the club I lived incredible moments, after all were 8 years wearing the shirt of one of the biggest clubs of the world.— Rafael da Silva (@orafa2) August 3, 2015
Thank you @ManUtd FC. I also want to thank all employees who always treated me with great affection and gave me greater attention.— Rafael da Silva (@orafa2) August 3, 2015
He took a step back under David Moyes, suffering with injuries, and Louis van Gaal did not trust him as a first team regular. As well as preferring Antonio Valencia at right-back, he signed Torino's Matteo Darmian earlier this summer.
His departure comes just 18 months after twin brother Fabio da Silva was sold to Cardiff City, where he still remains. The pair joined United from Fluminense in 2007.
