Ben Foster has used his Twitter page to show he has returned to training.
The Baggies stopper has been out of action since March, when he damaged his anterior cruciate ligament.
He picked up the injury in a match against Stoke City, with the Express and Star reporting at the time that Foster faced six months out.
His return to light training is an encouraging sign that he will be back in the side before long.
It will be too early for him to play in the club's season opener at home to Manchester City next Monday, with Boaz Myhill set to start in goal.
Myhill earned the trust of manager Tony Pulis last season with Foster out and was rewarded with a two-year contract, signed just a fortnight ago as reported The BBC.
His immediate task will be to perform strongly to give Pulis a selection headache when Foster is fully fit, and ease any temptation to rush the former Manchester United goalkeeper's recovery.
