Nottingham Forest fans have taken to social networking site Twitter to give their reaction to speculation that Gary Gardner could return to the club.
The British tabloid did not state any further details of a potential deal between the two clubs, though.
Gardner is currently out with an ankle ligament injury and will find it tough to break into the Villa starting line-up when he eventually recovers.
The 23-year-old has not played much for the Villa first team, despite being on the books of the Premier League outfit since 2005.
With the Villans having signed a number of players, it is unlikely that manager Tim Sherwood will be too patient with the former England Under-21 international.
Gardner did well during his loan spell at Championship outfit Forest last season, and it would make sense if he returned to the City Ground on loan.
The Englishman scored four goals and created 10 chances in 18 Championship appearances for the Reds.
The midfielder had a pass accuracy of 73% and a shot accuracy of 29%, and won 51 headers, six dribbles and 48 tackles.
Following the report, Forest fans took to Twitter to have their say on a potential deal for Gardner.
Below are some of the best comments:
#nffc I rate Gardner, and he is quality, but I hate the fact passion alone seems to be the fans main criteria for the players we buy/loan.— Aide..ady.its either (@adopqc) August 2, 2015

Finding it hard to get excited by the Gardner rumour. I just don't want to get my hopes up only for them to be shattered #nffc— Claire (@LilMissRedDog) August 2, 2015
