Mauricio Pochettino responds to Roberto Soldado speculation

Tottenham Hotspur striker Roberto Soldado has been linked with a move to Villarreal this summer.

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Mauricio Pochettino has told Marca that Roberto Soldado is part of his plan for the 2015-16 campaign.

The Spain international striker has been on the books of Spurs since 2013, but he has been a huge disappointment in the past two seasons.

The 30-year-old managed to score just one goal and could create only nine chances in 24 Premier League appearances during the 2014-15 campaign,

During the 2013-14 season, Soldado found the target only six times and created just 29 chances in 28 league matches.

According to Marca, Villarreal are interested in signing the former Real Madrid striker, but Pochettino has said that Soldado is part of his plan this season.

"I cannot confirm anything about Roberto," the Argentine is quoted as saying by Marca when asked about the possible transfer of the striker to Villarreal. “He is our player and is in our plans.”

It seems that Pochettino still believes that Soldado can do the job for Spurs, but one should not be surprised if Spurs eventually sell the striker.

After all, stating publicly that a player is for sale is only going to drive his price down, and Tottenham will not want to do that.
