Manchester United are actively trying to advance talks with Barcelona, as they try to secure the services of Pedro Rodriguez, although reports from the Catalan media suggest there's still plenty of work to be done, before a final agreement can be reached.
Mundo Deportivo have suggested that the future of Pedro, isn't quite as clear-cut as previously thought. Barcelona are standing firm on their asking price of €30 million for the 28-year-old forward, "and not a million less" claims the report.
As yet, Manchester United haven't met that valuation. Instead, they are said to have proposed a lower initial transfer fee, plus certain variables based on games played, trophies won and results achieved, in an overall package offer to Barcelona.
Meanwhile, Sport believe negotiations are heading down a more positive path. Although they also claim Italian side Roma remain very much in the chase for Pedro, talks with Manchester United remain ongoing and could take an important step forward.
The report from Sport insists that Manchester United supremo Ed Woodward is keen to reach a definitive agreement with Barcelona, by planning a trip to their club offices on Tuesday. However, Mundo Deportivo suggest there have been no indications from the Catalan giants, that such any meeting is due to take place.
Both media outlets feel a move to Manchester United is of great appeal to Pedro, and can be concluded sooner rather than later, even though he is currently tied to Barcelona until June 2019.
Nonetheless, playing options remain limited for Pedro with Barcelona, which adds to his willingness to seek a departure. Having stars such as Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar ahead of him in the pecking order, means another season playing second fiddle, were he to stay.
Whilst there are clearly different angles of opinion offered by both Mundo Deportivo and Sport, both indicate everything seems to hinge on the two clubs agreeing a final price for Pedro. If that agreement is reached over the coming days, he could be heading to Old Trafford before the weekend.
