In what has been a largely frustrating transfer window so far for the Foxes, today brought about some welcome good news with the confirmation of N’Golo Kante’s arrival, as per the club’s official site.
The French midfielder arrives in the Premier League off the back of a fantastic year with Caen, which saw his stock rise around Europe.
The 24-year old had been linked with the likes of Marseille – via Le10 Sport - and West Ham – via the Daily Mail – but Leicester have won the race for his signature and he joins the Midlands club on a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee.
A combative and composed central midfielder, Kante will fit perfectly into Leicester’s starting XI as a ready-made replacement for Esteban Cambiasso.
What the Frenchman loses in experience to the departed Argentine, he makes up for in dynamism and potential, and Leicester fans are sure to take to his powerful, all-action style in no time at all.
Twitter was predictably awash with reaction to Kante’s arrival and the sentiment proved overwhelmingly positive:
I Kante believe we've finally signed a defensive midfielder #lcfc— Iain Kirtley (@IainKirtley) August 3, 2015
Kante won the most tackles in Europe last season... #lcfc— Chris Bailey (@CBailey31) August 3, 2015
Never seen this Kante play. But if his stats are to go by then he will bully PL midfields. Hardman H and Boring Milner will have nightmares— Hari (@harikriss) August 3, 2015
I can deal with Kante and King as our 1st choice midfield, Drinkwater will improve and once we get James back looks decent again #lcfc— TG-foxes (@dashing_gunno) August 3, 2015
