Henderson says it's exciting with the club's opener against Stoke City on the horizon.
Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has suggested the side feels in pretty good form after pre-season, and are ready to return to the Britannia Stadium and put things right following their 6-1 humiliation at the hands of the Potters on the final day of last season.
Henderson is quoted in the Liverpool Echo, saying: “I still think we need to work on a couple of things this week before Stoke but we will go there with a lot of confidence and belief that we can get a good result.
“We have got togetherness and we need that going away to Stoke. The fitness levels are good but we have got to be easy mentally.
“We know what to expect. They are a good team. We know what happened in May but this is a new season.”
It was a poor ending to a poor season for the Reds and they have been busy in the transfer market in order to try and address their shortcomings. They have looked fragile at the back, but have also lacked a bit of cutting edge in the final third - hence the signings of Christian Benteke and Roberto Firmino.
Their pre-season has been relatively successful, having been unbeaten throughout their six games, and managing to win five of them. There is an element of momentum to take into the new season.
Given the difficult start to the season that the fixture list has delivered, they will be keen to get a win under their belt at a ground that has been notoriously difficult for them down the years - getting that win could be huge for the Reds going forward.
