Freedman suggests keyword which applies to Nottingham Forest this week

Nottingham Forest Stadium Night

Nottingham Forest boss Dougie Freedman has explained the difficulty of preparing for the club's first Championship game of the season.

Nottingham Forest manager Dougie Freedman told Forest Player about how he’s going to deal with a problem facing every manager in the Championship this week.

Freedman was quizzed about the difficulty of preparing for the first game of the new Championship season with nothing more than friendly games to base his thoughts on in terms of the opposition.

However, Freedman has a clear plan which is focused on as much detail as possible, with the opening game of the season against Brighton now under one week away.

“Detail. They’re fresh and fit. Detail in terms of understanding how Brighton play and how we can affect them – It’s difficult for the first two or three games,” he told Forest Player.

“You probably just look at the manager and decide what sort of manager he is, look at the personnel from previously – You try and work out which players will go tight and which will take more instructions from the manager.”

Forest will be well prepared

Freedman is not a manager who takes anything for granted and the club’s fans can be sure that he will have the side as best prepared as possible for the new season.

He’ll have ideas and systems flying around in his mind and he’s got a full working week to try out a few new ideas and tactics with different areas of his team.

It’s important that he looks to utilise the natural advantages that Forest have in their own squad, as much as he looks to predict the actions and tactics of the opposition.

It’s very important for the belief of the players and the fans that the club gets off to a good start, which will put the side into a positive early position.
