Barcelona attacker Pedro has been linked with a move to Manchester United this summer.

Former Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann has written on social networking site Twitter that Manchester United would be better off with Pedro.

United manager Louis van Gaal has been quoted as saying by The Sun that he is interested in signing the Spain international winger from Barcelona this summer.

Pedro is likely to be a replacement for Argentina international winger Angel di Maria, who is set for a move to Paris Saint-Germain, according to BBC Sport.

Hamann does not think that Pedro would be an upgrade on the former Real Madrid star, but he certainly believes that the former is a better player than the latter.

Pedro has been at Barcelona his entire career and is one of the best attacking players in the world.

However, the 28-year-old is not guaranteed a place in the Barca starting line-up, as Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez have established themselves as the front three.

The three-time Champions League winner scored six goals and created 25 chances in 35 La Liga appearances last season.

Pedro created six chances and had a pass accuracy of 89% in eight Champions League games during the 2014-15 campaign.
