Benteke became Liverpool's second most expensive player ever after his arrival from Aston Villa.
Benteke made his first appearance for the Reds in a friendly win over Swindon Town, where he scored a spectacular volley - with some perhaps thinking the £32.5 million fee isn't so big after all.
Leekens has told Liverpool's official magazine: "This is a guy who is a team player - he makes space, he's strong, the whole defence is busy with him and then the other striking partner can profit.
"He's not just a target man, he can hold the ball and switch play. He's fast, good in the air, mentally strong and the supporters will love him.
"He will be a fantastic centre-forward for Liverpool in a number of different systems."
Many have criticised the signing, suggesting that Benteke doesn't really fit into the style of play the Reds currently adopt, with some suggesting he's just something of a target man.
But his goals record during his time at Villa Park - where he averaged a goal every other game - suggests he could have a good impact at Liverpool, especially given they lacked a lot of firepower last season.
It will be interesting to see how he combines with his teammates in the early stages of the season. Brendan Rodgers feels that Benteke is the perfect fit, and Leekens feels Benteke can play in several different systems - there probably will be several switches throughout the season to show just how effective he can be.
