QPR striker Austin has been linked with a move to Everton, West Ham and Newcastle United this summer.
Ramsey said: “I think Charlie will be fit for next weekend. He’s trained the last two days and is getting back to fitness. Those two [Austin and Jamie Mackie] being available will give us a big boost, because they can score and create goals.”
Although only discussing Austin’s chances of playing due to a recent injury which has disrupted his pre-season, Ramsey’s comments suggest that the forward will be at Loftus Road for the start of the Championship season.
QPR face Charlton this weekend, and their ambitions to get back into the Premier League will be far improved with Austin still on their books. If the Englishman starts the campaign in the QPR ranks, there will be great hopes that he stays with the club for the entire league campaign.
This will be a massive boost of the R’s, but deals a great blow to a number of Premier League teams, who have all been interested in moving for the striker this summer.
The Sun reported that Everton and Newcastle United have been planning a move for him, with the Toffees hoping to provide cover for Romelu Lukaku, although West Ham United are also interested in Austin - as per the Mirror - as Slaven Bilic looks to secure a replacement for the injured Enner Valencia.
Austin may yet leave QPR before the transfer window closes, but with the Championship season starting this weekend, it appears as if the forward is set to play a key role with the Hoops as they look to secure an immediate return to the Premier League.
