The German midfielder is a key part of Borussia Dortmund's plans, despite recent links to Tottenham Hotspur.
The Mirror recently reported that Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino was stepping up his interest in Bender after failing in a bid to bring Everton’s James McCarthy to White Hart Lane, but it seems Tuchel has no intention of waving goodbye to the German star.
“Sven Bender is a leader,” Tuchel told reporters. “He is a constant in the squad. It is a pleasure to work with him because he is a total team player.
“So we are very happy with him and we are planning with him.”
Tottenham fans excited at the prospect of seeing Bender arrive in North London may be left disappointed, with Tuchel clearly rating the player highly and Bender having another two years on his current contract.
That means Dortmund will be in no rush to sell and in truth they will surely want to keep all their stars as they bid to begin a new era under Tuchel in the best possible way.
There is no doubt Tottenham need a quality addition in the centre of their midfield, but it seems as long as Tuchel gets his way, that player will not be Bender.
