Manchester City suffered a 4-2 defeat to Stuttgart in a pre-season friendly game on Saturday.
The Premier League giants ended their pre-season programme on a disappointing note, as they were hammered 4-2 by German club Stuttgart away from home at the Mercedes-Benz Arena.
Manager Manuel Pellegrini did not have all of his best players in the starting line-up, but the likes of Bacary Sagna, Joe Hart, Vincent Kompany, Samir Nasri and Raheem Sterling all featured in the game.
Attacking midfielder Lopes, who turned out on loan for Lille last season, also played against Stuttgart, but he did not seem too bothered by the heavy defeat.
The performance of City against Stuttgart left much to be desired, but pre-season games are not about results or the margin of defeats (or wins).
City have one of the best squads in the Premier League and will be among the top favourites to win the title.
Pellegrini is a very good manager, and he will certainly make sure that his players do not repeat the mistakes they made against Stuttgart.
