Report: West Ham United to win the race for Jean-Christophe Bahebeck loan deal

The French under-21 international has been strongly linked with a move to England this summer.

West Ham United are apparently joining the race for Paris Saint-Germain youngster Jean-Christophe Bahebeck.

According to Le10 Sport, The Hammers have joined four other Premier League teams in the hunt for the player. The other teams are said to be Watford, Sunderland, Fulham and West Bromwich Albion – but the report claims that West Ham are going to win the race for the player, beating French side Saint-Etienne to his signature.

West Ham need another striker this summer. They have lost Enner Valencia for a lengthy period after he suffered a serious ankle and knee injury in the week and Andy Carroll, the club’s record signing, has struggled with injury for the past two seasons.

Bahebeck is 22-year-old but has so far struggled for regular football at PSG. The French under-21 international, who has had previous loan spells at Troyes and Valenciennes, played just 20 times last season as he battled for first-team football with the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edinson Cavani.

The deal will reportedly be a season-long loan deal at Upton Park.

The Hammers have also been linked with signing Raul Jimenez of Atletico Madrid this week, but Bahebeck’s arrival would surely placate such talk.
