The Croatian youngster is set to spend the season on loan with The Hammers.

West Ham United should finalise a move for Croatian wonderkid Alen Halilovic this week, according to reports.

It is claimed by Italian site Tutto Mercato Web that the deal is on the way to being completed in the coming days, as Slaven Bilic looks to bring his countryman into London for the season.

It is reported that Halilovic, who is currently playing for Barcelona’s ‘B’ team, wants to play regular football at a higher level. Barca B were relegated from Segunda Liga last season and the Croatian youngster does not want to play in the third tier of Spanish football.

Halilovic, described as the ‘next Luka Modric’, was chased by a hatful of top clubs prior to joining Barca in 2014.

The former Dinamo Zagreb midfielder has seven caps for the Croatian national team and Bilic knows him from his time working in the national set-up.

The 19-year-old, who has been called a wonderkid, has not been at his best in Spain and will be hoping that a move to English football can bring the best out of the teenage star.
