Mathias Pogba, twin brother of Saint-Etienne centre-back Florentin Pogba and their more famous younger sibling, Juventus star Paul Pogba, is set to join Scottish Premiership side Partick Thistle, according to reports from Ideal Granada.
The powerful 24-year-old centre-forward, capped twice by the Guinea national team, has spent the last month training with La Liga side Granada CF. HITC Sport understands this opportunity originally arose as a favour from the club, to his agent.
Keen to get himself into top shape as he seeks his next footballing challenge, Pogba has been working hard in the blazing Spanish heat, with temperatures regularly topping 40ºC at their training base.
Understandably, this meant Pogba looked a little lethargic during the first training sessions, but he quickly adapted and certainly didn't lack for enthusiasm, whilst his fitness levels clearly improved as the days progressed.
As his sharpness returned, Pogba demonstrated a keen eye for goal during training matches with the Granada first-team squad, along with his physical and aerial presence, posing a problem for defenders to deal with.
Whilst his spell with Granada was also regarded as a trial period, the likelihood of the club offering him a contract was always slim, given they already have similar profile attackers in the shape of Jhon Cordoba and Isaac Success.
The former Crewe Alexandra, Crawley Town and Pescara striker, is now expected to undergo a medical with Partick Thistle on Monday, report Get French Football News.
Should all go to plan, Pogba will then pen a one-year contract with The Jags. There is also apparently the option of an additional season, should the Scottish club be satisfied with his performances.
