Report: Liverpool willing to pay £11.9m for Real Madrid’s Cheryshev

The Reds are currently the most attractive option for the Russian, according to reports in Spain.

Liverpool are willing to pay £11.9 million for Real Madrid winger Denis Cheryshev this summer, according to Spanish newspaper AS.

The Reds have been linked with a move for the Russian all summer, with them having signed a number of players already this summer.

Cheryshev has returned to the Bernabeu after a successful loan spell with Villareal last season, and while he has impressed in pre-season, he looks unlikely to feature much ahead of the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, James Rodriguez or Isco next season.

He has several offers to leave Madrid according to AS, with Brendan Rodgers’ side willing to pay £11.9million to sign him, with them being the more attractive offer at this moment in time.

Whether Benitez will sanction a move is yet to be seen, with him having been impressed with him in both pre-season training and game time so far.

With him unlikely to supplant Ronaldo though, game time would be limited and even the player has admitted that is the most important factor for him right now. However, it is questionable whether he would get that an Anfield.

The Reds have a packed squad after this summer’s business, while they also play a system that doesn’t truly involve wingers, meaning it is hard to see where Cheryshev would fit in at Anfield.

Perhaps then, a move somewhere else would be better if game time is truly his number one priority. At the moment though, it seems Liverpool are the most attractive option.
