Fortuna Dusseldorf are interested in signing Mehdi Abeid from Newcastle United this summer, according to The Chronicle.
The British newspaper has reported that the German club are willing to meet Newcastle’s asking price for the Algeria international midfielder.
Abeid has been on the books of Newcastle since 2011, but he is not guaranteed a place in the starting line-up.
The 22-year-old is a talented young midfielder, but he has not always impressed when played in the first team.
The Algerian would be better off at a club where he will get to play regularly so that he can kick-start his career.
Fortuna Dusseldorf may be playing in the second tier of German football, but if they assure him of regular first-team action, then Abeid should take this opportunity.
It will come as a disappointment to the youngster that Newcastle are open to selling him this summer, but perhaps this is going to make him a better and more mature player.
