Report: Cardiff City striker Adam Le Fondre, linked with Sheffield Wednesday, set for Blackburn Rovers move

The striker is keen on a move back north after a dismal season in the Welsh capital.

Cardiff City striker Adam Le Fondre is all set to end his spell with the club this week, with Blackburn Rovers and Sheffield Wednesday in the hunt for the player – according to Wales Online.

Bolton Wanderers, where Le Fondre spent a spell on loan last season, are also keen on the striker.

Whilst Wednesday and Bolton are keen it is reported that neither are likely to get hold of the player. It seems Le Fondre will be heading to Blackburn Rovers, where he’ll have the tough task of replacing Rudy Gestede – who joined Aston Villa in the week.

Le Fondre joined The Bluebirds in 2014 from Reading but has not enjoyed his time with the club.

In his only season for the club he struggled for regular football, playing just 21 times for the Welsh club and scoring just three goals.

Prior to that he had enjoyed fabulous spells at Reading, Rotherham United and Rochdale – where he scored goals on a regular basis.

The report claims that Le Fondre, known as Alfie to his fans, wants to move back north with his family and Blackburn, Sheffield Wednesday and Bolton would all fulfil that quota.
