Many fans will no doubt hope the 26-year-old will be like a new signing for the Saints after his return from injury.
The striker missed last campaign but a pre-season this time around will no doubt do his chances of keeping fit the world of good.
And Rodriguez showed glimpses of his usual quality during a friendly on Sunday, with Le Tissier heaping praise on the Southampton forward on Twitter as a result.
Great to see @JayRodriguez9 back and even better to see him back on the scoresheet— Matt Le Tissier (@mattletiss7) August 2, 2015
Southampton supporters will be hoping for a similar return next season to that of the 2013/14 campaign...

As Opta stats show, the 26-year-old was the Saints' top scorer the season that saw him get injured towards the conclusion of the campaign.
Rodriguez also won a healthy 40 dribbles and was able to register three assists.
The striker's return, then, will hopefully add goals and an attacking threat to Ronald Koeman's side - without spending an extra penny in the transfer market. No wonder Le Tissier is so encouraged.
