Brendan Rodgers was thrilled with star signing Christian Benteke.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers was astounded at the impact Christian Benteke made against Swindon in the club's latest pre-season friendly.
Benteke netted a spectacular goal in the 2-1 win, and Rodgers told the club's official website the goal was worthy of gracing any game.
He said: "Christian's goal was incredible, whether it was a pre-season friendly or in a league or cup game. It was wonderful technique from the big guy."
Benteke was a big money summer signing from Aston Villa, and is expected to lead the line for his new side next weekend against Stoke City.
His second half strike will give him even more confidence ahead of that tricky contest, but he was not the only one for who Rodgers had kind words.
The Northern Irishman praised youngsters Sheyi Ojo and Ryan Kent, who have been present throughout the club's pre-season campaign, with the former hitting the winner against Swindon.
"Young Sheyi scored a goal and was a threat. Ryan Kent was bright when he came on and showed his pace and quality. The young players coped well."
It is unclear whether either player will get first team chances this season in the Premier League, but they could strive for early opportunities in the League Cup or Europa League.
Both Ojo and Kent both have squad numbers and their progress has been positive, clearly impressing Rodgers day in and day out in training.
Their impact in pre-season confirms it is surely a chance of when rather than if they will get to stake their claim.
