The Leeds striker was over the moon after the Everton win.
Chris Wood didn't have to wait long after leaving a Premier League side to score against top-flight opposition.
Indeed, the 23-year-old netted for Leeds United against Everton at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon, as Uwe Rosler's men closed off pre-season with a superb performance and victory.
There is now real optimism within the Leeds camp ahead of next weekend's Championship opener.
And not least from one of their goalscorers himself.
Billy Sharp was recently sold by the Yorkshire side and Nicky Ajose looks as though his future lies away from the Whites. Plenty of competition up front exists elsewhere, however, and Wood's strong performance against the Toffees should keep Rosler impressed enough to leave him as Leeds' first choice ahead of their clash with Burnley.
Great end to pre season! Elland Road was bouncing today. Quality atmosphere. Really looking forward to it all kicking off next week. #Lufc— Chris Wood (@officialcwood) August 1, 2015
Wood, Alex Mowatt, Tom Adeyemi and more impressed Leeds supporters against Everton but the likes of Souleymane Doukara divided opinion.
The 23-year-old striker from New Zealand, though, has so far justified the hype surrounding his £3m arrival, as reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post, at Elland Road during pre-season. Will he reproduce the goals during United's league campaign?
Wood's confidence and enthusiasm is certainly a good sign and a solid start to the season could be crucial when it comes to Leeds building up a head of steam in the Championship.
