Charlie Austin clashes with Rodney Marsh on Twitter over transfer speculation

QPR Mascot And Fans

The former Queens Park Rangers forward and the man linked with moves to Newcastle United and West Ham sent each other subtle hints on social media.

Charlie Austin and Rodney Marsh were involved in a Twitter spat on Sunday afternoon as both QPR icons sent each other indirect messages on social media.

Austin has been linked with a move to both Newcastle and West Ham United recently, as per the Daily Mail, but duly took to Twitter to let QPR fans know he was only missing their friendly against Atalanta due to a lack of training.

But Marsh tweeted the following, suggesting it had more to do with the Newcastle and West Ham links:

Whether it was aimed at Austin or not, the QPR striker certainly perceived it that way and hit back with a Twitter message of his own.

Marsh appeared to respond once again, as Austin's QPR future looks no closer to being resolved. West Ham are in need of a striker for injury cover but the 26-year-old has been most heavily linked with Newcastle.

It will be interesting to note where the QPR striker will be playing his football next weekend as the Championship campaign kicks off. Even if he is still at Loftus Road by then, however, things may still change before the end of the transfer window.
