Aston Villa played their final pre-season friendly of the summer this weekend, with Tim Sherwood’s side drawing 3-3 against Nottingham Forest.
Scott Sinclair scored a hat-trick for the top flight club but he was not the only player to impress as Villa geared up for their league opener against Bournemouth on Saturday.
Villa have impressed in the summer transfer market and they may not be done yet, but whatever happens between now and September they have already added quality throughout the side.
Against Forest, Mark Bunn, Jordan Amavi, Idrissa Gueye, Jose Angel Crespo and Jordan Ayew all started, while recent arrival Jordan Veretout came off the bench.
Gueye looked solid throughout but it was Amavi who really impressed at full-back.
He may only be 21, but the Frenchman looks a class act and Villa look like they have their first-choice left-back for the next decade.
After the match we took to Twitter to see what Villa fans thought of Amavi’s performance and you can read a selection of what we found below:
Biggest pre season positives for me are Amavi, huge prospect, & the thought of all the players still to come into the team #avfc— Jamie Gray (@JMGray80) August 1, 2015
Sinclair deserved his hat trick today and got it with a spectacular finish, Amavi again was brilliant going forward, Cole decent! #avfc— Michael Norbury (@michael_norbury) August 1, 2015
When he's out on the left, he won't give you a rest, it's Amavi. He will leave you for dead and run rings round your head, it's Amavi. #avfc— AVFC FORUMS (@avfcforums) August 1, 2015
