The Toffees need to make a move for a defender in the transfer market.
Everton go into the new season hoping for a massive improvement on last term’s disappointing campaign.
Roberto Martinez will be hoping to get the club back into Europe, but their transfer window has so far been relatively slow.
The arrivals of Tom Cleverely, Gerard Deulofeu and David Henen are solid buys, but there are still holes that need plugging.
With a month left of the Transfer Window, where do Everton need to strengthen most of all?
Some might say Tim Howard is past his best and a new stopper is needed. Others will point to the striker position, where Arouna Kone provides below-par coverage for the in-form Romelu Lukaku.
But a defender must be top of the list.
The club were found out at the back on numerous times last season through injury. Then they had Sylvain Distin and Antolin Alcaraz as cover, with both woefully out of form.
The pair are now gone and while hopes are high for Tyias Browning and Brendan Galloway there is a real need for a new defender at the club.
Preferably somebody comfortable at both central and right-hand side of defence. In Seamus Coleman’s absence Everton will be relying on veteran defender Tony Hibbert – again, not the most proactive of replacements.
If Everton are going to make a real fist of it this season, a new defender must arrive within the month.
