According to Portuguese newspaper O Jogo, Benfica are interested in signing Roberto Soldado from Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
The report claims that the Portuguese giants have already made contact with Spurs and want to recruit the Spain international striker on a loan deal.
It remains to be seen how this story develops over the coming days, but if Soldado has the chance to move to the Portuguese champions, then he should take it.
After all, there is nothing left for him at Spurs, is there? It has been well established that the former Real Madrid striker has been a failure at White Hart Lane, having managed to score just 16 goals in 76 appearances for the Premier League outfit in two years.
It does not look likely that Soldado is going to regain his touch at Tottenham, and he should take the chance (reportedly) handed to him to play in the Champions League again.
Having won the league title in Portugal last season, Benfica are guaranteed a place in the group stage of the 2015-16 Champions League campaign.
Tottenham will feature only in the Europa League this season, which means Benfica are an even bigger incentive for Soldado.
Earlier this summer, the Lisbon-based outfit signed former Tottenham Hotspur and Queens Park Rangers attacker Adel Taarabt.
Soldado should join him at Benfica if he gets the chance.
