Swansea's Ashley Williams will need to request move if he wants summer exit

HITC Sport understands that a man linked with Crystal Palace must force the issue if he is to leave, with Swansea reluctant to sell.

Ashley Williams will have to hand in a transfer request if he wants to leave Swansea City, HITC Sport understands from sources close to a potential exit.

The Swansea skipper has been tracked by a host of clubs in recent times, with Crystal Palace putting in a firm offer with the South Wales club – as reported by the Daily Mirror.

That led to Swansea boss Garry Monk issuing a hands off warning, although HITC Sport understands that the suitors interested have been told they would need to bid in excess of £20million in order to open negotiations.

Everton have also been strongly linked, but like Palace, they have been warned off the Welsh skipper.

Williams has three years left on his current deal and HITC Sport understands that Swansea have told his representatives that they would only be forced into selling if he requested a move himself.

It would therefore appear as though the transfer ball has been placed firmly in the 30-year-old’s court.
