As per the club’s official website, following plenty of speculation Italian giants Inter Milan have finally completed the signing of Stevan Jovetic from Manchester City.
The Montenegro international striker lasted just two seasons in the Premier League, initially joining City from Fiorentina in the summer of 2013.
He arrived at the Etihad stadium with a glowing reputation and bags of potential, yet he struggled to earn himself a regular starting spot and failed to make much of an impact coming off the bench.
Over the past two seasons, the 25-year-old featured 28 times in the Premier League and was cut from last season’s Champions League squad, being replaced by January signing Wilfried Bony.
It was a decision which prompted the striker to seek an exit and one which he has found in form of Inter, the Serie A contenders ironically currently managed by former City boss Roberto Mancini.
“We are pleased to announce the arrival of Jovetic. This is another important player for our team, a dynamic player that will add even more value to our attack,” Inter Milan’s website state.
There is still some confusion over the type of transfer with Inter stating Jovetic has joining a four-year deal whereas the Citizens’ official website say it’s 18-month loan with a view to a permanent deal.
Either way, it appears strongly that the former Partizan Belgrade product’s City career is over, and here is what a number of supporters have had to say on Twitter concerning the deal:
Jovetic's 'Wantaway' comments pretty distressing for #MCFC. Surely a little too exaggerated too.— Nikhil Jitendran (@_VanJitendran) July 31, 2015
On a scale of 1-10 how does Stevan Jovetić's move to #MCFC rank in terms of most pointless/ineffective buys? A high 9 for me.— Kevin Doocey (@KevinDoocey) July 31, 2015
Official. Jovetic to Inter. One & a half year loan with a view to a permanent deal. A skilful footballer who had major fitness issues. #mcfc— SimplyBlue166 (@SimplyBlue166) July 31, 2015
If city are getting rid of dzeko and jovetic and neither Bony or Aguero are match for, surely another striker is needed! #mcfc— Tom Singleton (@tommysingy) July 31, 2015
Personally i like jovetic an gutted it hasn't worked for him. Had i hopes for him at city, hope its works out at inter for him.#MCFC— Danny fox (@Dannymcfcfox) July 31, 2015
I never really understood the Jovetic signing. Seems a nice lad, hope he can get/stay fit. Just not my type of player. #mcfc— Alex Bowers (@alex_bowers) July 31, 2015
Jovetic is a better player than Bony and also suits our style more. Another player that I'm very disappointed that we have let go #MCFC— Jacob Rhodes (@JacobRhodes94) July 29, 2015
