Harry Redknapp predicts Tottenham's top-four chances, says they need to strengthen in two positions

The former Tottenham Hotspur boss has been discussing the north London side's upcoming Premier League season.

Harry Redknapp thinks Tottenham's top-four chances will be significantly boosted by signing an 'outstanding, experienced midfielder,' according to Kicca.

Indeed, the former Premier League manager praised both boss Mauricio Pochettino and the club's current youthful midfielders - Nabil Bentaleb and Ryan Mason come to mind - but feels it will be tough to challenge for a Champions League place without new additions.

Redknapp said on Kicca: "I am hoping Spurs can get back into the top four but it will be tough. They’re probably a couple of players short of mounting a serious challenge to get in that top four.

"He needs another front man and another top midfielder for sure. He’s got some good kids in the midfield but they are young so I think he needs real outstanding, experienced midfielder in there and he certainly needs another front man, he cannot rely on just Harry Kane to score all the goals."

Who fits the bill?

All the transfer speculation would suggest Redknapp is on the ball, although it isn't necessarily rocket science to acknowledge Tottenham's need to strengthen.

According to the Daily Telegraph among many others, the north London side have been linked with a move for West Brom forward Saido Berahino - who can play out wide, too.

Both the Telegraph and the Daily Mirror have also most recently tipped Spurs to move for midfielder Sven Bender. The 26-year-old and Berahino would certainly fit the bill at White Hart Lane and significantly bolster Pochettino's squad. Will it be enough for the top four, though? As always, that's something Tottenham fans will have to wait and see...
