Confirmed: Newcastle line-up v Borussia Monchengladbach

St James Park

Newcastle United will take on Borussia Monchengladbach in a pre-season friendly at St. James’ Park this afternoon…

Newcastle United will be looking to end their pre-season schedule on a high this afternoon, when they take on Borussia Monchengladbach at home.

The Magpies will head into this afternoon’s game against the German outfit at St. James’ Park aiming for a win.

This is the final pre-season friendly fixture for Steve McClaren’s side, who have done relatively well over the past few weeks.

There are injury concerns for Newcastle ahead of the 2015-16 campaign, though, and today’s game will allow many of the players to step up their fitness levels.

The Magpies were involved in a relegation battle until the final day of last season, but this term they will be aiming for a top-10 finish in the Premier League.

It will not be easy, though, but under former Nottingham Forest and Derby County manager McClaren, Newcastle are aiming high.

It promises to be an interesting game at St. James’ Park, and this is how Newcastle will line up against Monchengladbach:

Newcastle XI: Krul (c), Janmaat, Williamson, Taylor, Haidara, Anita, Colback, Sissoko, Obertan, Wijnaldum, Cisse

Subs: Darlow, Bigirimana, Ferguson, Lascelles, Mbemba, Aarons, Abeid, de Jong, Gouffran, Kemen, Mitrovic, Perez
