Claudio Ranieri comments on N'Golo Kante interest

Leicester City - King Power Stadium

Leicester City look set to sign N'Golo Kante from SM Caen, despite interest from Premier League rivals West Ham United.

Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri has been quoted as saying on the club’s official Twitter page that he is confident of signing N'Golo Kante this summer.

The 24-year-old central midfielder is on the books of French club SM Caen at the moment and has also been linked with a move to West Ham United.

Earlier this week, French sports paper L'Equipe claimed that the Hammers could make a bid for the Frenchman in the coming days.

However, it seems that it is Leicester who are on the verge of signing Kante, with Ranieri confirming the Foxes’ interest in the former US Boulogne player.

N'Golo Kante stats

Kante has been on the books of Caen since 2013 and has established himself as one of the better central midfielders in Ligue 1.

The 24-year-old scored two goals and created 45 chances in 37 Ligue 1 games last season.

The Frenchman had a pass accuracy of 79% and a shot accuracy of 35%, and won 25 headers, 56 dribbles and 145 tackles.
