The French midfielder looks set to make a move to the King Power Stadium this weekend.
The midfielder reportedly arrived in Leicester on Thursday to finalise a move, with L’Equipe reporting that the French club will cash in around €9 million (£6.35 million) in the deal for the player.
Despite the deal reportedly being done and dusted, as yet no official confirmation has emerged from either team.
However, the chairman of Caen has certainly hinted that the player is on his way to England.
Jean-Francois Fortin stated:
"It would have made me happy that he continued his career in France. For economic reasons, the side of player like mine, it's not possible.
“It was possible to think for a time that stories with English clubs were not true. Others also thought - including the player's agents - that English proposals would soon come and I had financial constraints that force me to make this sale.”
Kante’s arrival will certainly be massive for Leicester. The Foxes lost Esteban Cambiasso this summer, after the former Argentina international decided not to extend his contract with the club beyond the end of the current season.
The central midfielder, who had also been linked with West Ham, will provide some strength in the heart of midfield as Leicester look set for another battle with relegation this term.
