HITC Sport understands that a proven Championship performer is undergoing a medical and is poised to pen a two-year deal.

HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club that Bradford City are set to sign former Liverpool, Nottingham Forest and Ipswich Town winger Paul Anderson.

The 27-year-old, who was surprisingly released by Ipswich at the end of last season, is believed to be undergoing a medical with the Bantams on Saturday morning.

He is poised to pen a two-year contract with the ambitious League One club, as they plot a push for promotion to the Championship in 2015/16.

In Anderson, they will be getting a man proven at that level and one who should be a real menace in the third tier.

He has spent the last seven years turning out in the Championship, while the 2007/08 season saw him star for Swansea City in League One – with a 10-goal tally in all competitions representing his best return to date.

Bradford will be looking for him to make a similar impact with them, with Phil Parkinson in the process of piecing together an impressive squad.

HITC Sport revealed on Thursday that the Bantams are also close to securing the services of vastly-experienced goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen, with the former Bolton Wanderers and West Ham United shot-stopper another of those to have dropped into the free agent pool.
