Aston Villa team news for Forest clash: Guzan returns and Gestede, Veretout and Crespo could all feature

Aston Villa fans should get the chance to see some of their new players in action against Nottingham Forest this weekend.

Aston Villa take on Nottingham Forest in their final pre-season friendly this weekend, and the Birmingham Mail has published some team news ahead of the encounter.

Villa have been very busy in terms of incoming transfers in recent days, and new signings Rudy Gestede, Jordan Veretout and Jose Angel Crespo are all expected to feature in the squad today.

Goalkeeper Brad Guzan will also be included after returning to first-team training following his extended summer break after his participation in this summer’s Gold Cup.

Guzan will be first-choice for Villa manager Tim Sherwood this season and as a result he is being tipped to get some much-needed minutes under his belt this weekend.

Gestede and Veretout only arrived at Villa in recent days and how long they feature for will depend on how match-fit they were when they arrived.

The most likely option is that both men will play one half rather than an entire game, but with so many new faces at the club this match will be priceless in helping Sherwood settle on his preferred starting line-up for next weekend’s Premier League clash with newly-promoted Bournemouth.
