The Gunners midfielder had confessed he took solace in the manager’s belief in him after serious injury.
The Wales international has blossomed into one of the Premier League’s top midfielders during his time at North London, with his never-say-die attitude making him a favourite of the club’s fans.
This feat is made all the more impressive given his bad luck with injuries, with Ramsey having to overcome significant setbacks despite his young age.
After picking up a serious injury that kept him on the sidelines for a prolonged period, Ramsey admitted that his morale was low.
However, the former Cardiff star has thanked Wenger for his trust during the time of his rehabilitation.
"It was a difficult time for me, but it's important in those times never to doubt your ability, because if you start doubting yourself then you're going to go down a slippery slope - and you never know, you can find yourself shooting down the leagues," Ramsey told ESPN.
"That was important, never doubting myself - I always knew what I was capable of doing. It was just trying to figure out how I could do it. The boss [Arsene Wenger] always believed in me. He gave me a new contract in that period and he's always known what I could do.
"It was just a case of figuring out how to put things to the back of my mind, psychologically, with what went on with my injury. Then I quickly rediscovered my form.”
Ramsey has been an important member of the Arsenal side for a number of years, with his dynamism and goals from deep playing a key role in the Gunners’ chances of silverware.
The Wales international looks set to face Chelsea this weekend in the Community Shield and will hope to play a significant part in the North London club’s expected title charge this term.
