The Barcelona midfielder has admitted that featuring alongside the Argentine for the Blaugrana has been special.
The World Cup winning Spain international has featured for the Catalan giants alongside Messi for 11 years - since the four-time Ballon d’Or winner broke into the Blaugrana first team.
Iniesta appears to have a telepathic understanding on the pitch with the South American maestro, with the pair playing a key role in Barcelona’s momentous treble success last season.
The Spanish veteran has been speaking out about Messi ahead of the new season and hopes to be able to link up with the amazing attacker for many more years.
"We have experienced all sorts of situations together and we know each other so well," Goal quote Iniesta as saying.
"We have lived alongside one another for such a long time. And to have experienced what we have together is to be very happy.
"The truth is that it is a privilege to play with him. I cannot say much more than that.
"Leo has always been unique for me and hopefully I get to play with him for a lot longer. That's what matters.”
Messi has now returned to Barcelona training after featuring in the Copa America for Argentina this summer, where he captained the Albiceleste to a final defeat against hosts Chile on penalties.
The 28-year-old has formed a formidable strike trident with Luis Suarez and Neymar, with Iniesta the creative midfielder that supplies the trio.
Barcelona won a treble in Luis Enrique’s first season in charge of the Catalan club and will be the team to beat in Spain and on the continent in 2015-16.
