Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino will already be formulating ideas over who starts the season in his first team for the game against Manchester United next weekend.
Spurs arguably still need some squad cover in one or two areas, but they have a largely settled side, which gelled together last season to eventually finish fifth in the Premier League.
There is real pressure over the manager to try and guide his team to qualification into the Champions League by this time last year and it will be interesting to see how he sets the side up next season.
We’ve attempted to name the Tottenham team, which could start the new season.
The defence takes care of itself with significant positions for Michel Vorm in goal and Toby Alderweireld as the second centre back next to Jan Vertonghen.
Hugo Lloris is a world class goalkeeper and some the side could arguably have lost in this transfer window so it’s a real boost that he’s still at the club, but they can’t take any risks with his wrist injury which means an opportunity for Michel Vorm.
With no new winger signing in sight, it’s looking like a case of inverted wingers all over again. Nacer Chadli is likely to play down one side of midfield, with Dele Alli arguably best placed to get a chance on the other side.
Alli has impressed during pre-season but is at his best through the middle so it will be interesting to see how he plays if he’s asked to play that position for the club.
Until Tottenham sign another striker in the transfer window, it’s a case of Harry Kane or bust.
The club must sign another striker before the end of August or they could seriously struggle to score should Kane pick up a problem.
