Tottenham Hotspur transfer round-up: Spurs set to open talks with Timo Werner

A round up of news stories this morning related to Tottenham Hotspur.

The Daily Telegraph has reported that Tottenham are set to open talks with Stuttgart for striker Timo Werner.

The teenager has reportedly been identified as a an attacking addition for the club with Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado set to leave the club.

The paper doesn’t mention a specific fee for the player, which suggests that talks are only at an initial stage.

The Daily Star has quoted Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino stating that he’s not interested in signing Javier Hernandez from Manchester United.

The Mexican has been tipped as a potential new signing for Spurs, as they look to bolster their attack ahead of the new season.

However, Pochettino has confirmed that the stories linking Tottenham with a move for the player are nothing more than speculation.

“About Javier Hernandez, those are rumours and nothing more,” he said.

West Brom midfielder Darren Fletcher has been quoted by the Daily Express expressing the importance of Saido Berahino for the Baggies.

Berahino is another player who has been linked with a move to White Hart Lane ahead of the new campaign.

The paper states that a £20 million offer is on the cards from Tottenham before the end of the transfer window.

“He’s very important to us, I think we’ve got a good chance of keeping him,” said Fletcher.
