Tom Adeyemi is now even more important to Leeds following Tommaso Bianchi setback

The Leeds United midfielder has an important role to play in the weeks ahead.

As reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds United midfielder Tommaso Bianchi requires surgery on his injured knee that will see him miss the first month of the new Championship season.

That means Leeds manager Uwe Rosler will be calling on loan signing Tom Adeyemi to do the heavy lifting as his side attempts to start the campaign with the focus, performance-levels and ultimately the results that could see them earn promotion back to the top flight after a prolonged absence.

Leeds fans have known for some time that the club needs to strengthen their central midfield, but following the departure of Rudy Austin there has not been the experienced arrival many were expecting.

Instead 23-year-old Adeyemi arrived on a season-long loan from Cardiff City; a player who has plenty of matches under his belt but one who is now being relied upon to act as the catalyst for the more creative-minded players to do their work further up the pitch.

This season was supposed to be a fresh start for Bianchi but instead he remains absent just as he was for the last 16 league matches of the previous campaign.

He could yet return to play a vital role under Rosler, but for now it is up to Adeyemi to fill the void; a temporary fix who may ultimately become a permanent solution if he performs as Leeds fans will be hoping.
