Report: West Brom close to signing Rickie Lambert from Liverpool

Liverpool striker Rickie Lambert has been linked with a move to Premier League rivals West Bromwich Albion.

West Bromwich Albion are close to signing Rickie Lambert from Liverpool, according to The Independent.

It has been reported by the British newspaper that the £3 million deal is in the final stages of negotiations, and that the departure of the striker from Anfield is imminent.

Good signing for West Bromwich Albion?

Lambert is a good striker and can be a decent back-up, despite his struggles with Liverpool last season.

The England international moved to the Reds from Premier League rivals Southampton in the summer of 2014.

The 33-year-old did not fit in Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers’s style and could make just 25 Premier League appearances last season, scoring two goals and creating 11 chances in the process.

Lambert is going to struggle at Anfield if he remains with the Reds, and it makes sense for him to move to West Brom.

Given that the reported transfer fee is only £3 million, the Baggies are justified in signing a striker who knows the Premier League well.
