Palermo have opened talks to sign Joel Campbell from Arsenal this summer, according to The Sun.
It has been reported by the British tabloid that the Serie A outfit have started negotiations with the 23-year-old striker, but they are struggling to match the demands of Arsenal.
The Gunners reportedly want as much as £7 million as transfer fee to part company with Campbell.
Good move for Joel Campbell?
Campbell has been on the books of Arsenal since 2011, but he has been out on loan spells for most of the past four seasons.
The Costa Rica international started the 2014-15 campaign as part of the Gunners’ first team, but he could make just four appearances in the Premier League before being sent out on loan to Spanish outfit Villarreal.
It is clear that Campbell does not have a long-term future at Arsenal, and it is in the best interest of the striker if he leaves the North London outfit this summer.
At this stage of his career, the former Saprissa man needs to play regularly.
If Campbell remains at the Emirates Stadium, then he will be nothing more than a squad player.
