The Swiss international is a wanted man this summer after a poor 2014-15.
Leicester City have joined the race for Napoli midfielder Gokhan Inler this summer. According to reports in the Italian press, namely La Gazzetta dello Sport, Claudio Ranieri is looking at bringing in the Swiss international this summer.
They report that Leicester have already lodged a €4.5 million (£3.2 million) bid for the player, with the hope of replacing Esteban Cambiasso, who left at the end of his contract this summer.
Ranieri has used his contacts in Italy to try and broker the deal, however it looks unlikely.
Inler has already rejected moves to both Watford and Galatasaray this summer, as he is settled in Naples. This is despite not being a first-team regular at the club last season.
Inler, who was once heavily linked with moves to Arsenal and Liverpool, only started 19 games for Napoli in Serie A last season – which seemed to fuel rumours of a potential departure.
But with Rafa Benitez no longer in the picture he appears hopeful of earning his place back in the Napoli first-team for the new season.
Leicester certainly face a battle trying to get hold of the player. If Gala and Watford couldn’t, it is hard to imagine The Foxes turning Inler’s head any further.
