The Italian international is wanted back in his homeland by the newly promoted side.
The Italian international had a season of two halves last term. After firing out of the traps in front of goal after signing from Ronald Koeman’s former team Feyenoord he struggled in the second half of the season.
He now looks to be back to his best however and Southampton fans are rightly excited about what he can achieve this season.
However, that is if he remains.
He is still said to be the number one striker target for newly promoted Serie A side Bologna. The club are desperate for a new striker and according to Corriere dello Sport the club remain hopeful of getting hold of him.
Bologna’s sporting director is Pantaleo Corvino, who signed Pelle as a youngster when he came through the ranks at Lecce.
The report claims that Pelle would be unlikely to leave Southampton this summer for anyone other than Bologna because of his links with Corvino.
However, Bologna would certainly struggle to meet Southampton’s price-tag for the player, so hopefully he should be sticking around on the South Coast for the time being.
